Things to think about before you speak…

before you speakA friend of mine posted this picture on her Facebook page and I immediately shared it with my friends. It resonated with me so much I decided to blog about it!

Before you speak….THINK!

Is it true?

This one is easy. If what you are about to say is a bold-face lie, keep it to yourself. When you lie to someone it proves that you actually CARE about what they think about you. Don’t give them that power. Always tell the truth.

Is it helpful?

One of my pet peeves is being involved in a conversation where everyone just wnats to gripe and complain. Come up with solutions! If it’s not about solutions, I don’t want to hear it!

Is it inspiring?

You don’t have to be a professional life coach or a member of the church to inspire someone. Think about how you live your life. The things that keep you going and things that make you smile on a regular basis. SHARE that information often! If something is making your life worth living don’t keep it to yourself! Make your mark on the world and choose to inspire others.

Is it necessary?

Don’t talk just for the sake of talking. Some folks just want to hear themselves talk! I can’t stand it! If what you have to say is not contributing to the CURRENT conversation, save it for another time when it is more apprporiate.

Is it kind?

You should always say things that are kind. Don’t post negativity on Facebook and don’t speak ill about someone (especially when they aren’t around).  Be known as someone who always has a kind word.

We all know someone who tends to “pop off” at the mouth from time to time. What experience do you have with someone who doesn’t think before they speak? What affect did it have on you? Please comment below!
